The Official Receiver was appointed provisional liquidator of the company on 19 April 2006. At the same time the Official Receiver was also appointed as provisional liquidator of the connected companies United Land Acquisitions Ltd, United Property Holdings PLC and Land Investment Association. The petitions to wind up the companies in the public interest were presented by the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry following investigations into the companies.

On 9 July 2007 the petitions against United Land Holdings PLC and United Land Acquisitions Ltd were heard by the court. The directors had previously indicated that they would be defending the petitions, but in the week before the hearing of the petitions they informed the Secretary of State’s solicitors that they would not be doing so. On 9 July 2007 the court made winding up orders against United Land Holdings PLC and United Land Acquisitions Ltd. The Official Receiver is liquidator of both companies.

On 3 September 2007 the Official Receiver issued his Reports to Creditors in respect of both United Land Holdings PLC and United Land Acquisitions Ltd. These have been sent to trade creditors and to customers of each company. If you have not received the appropriate Report to Creditors by 15 September 2007, please contact this office by email to piu.or@insolvency.gsi.gov.uk , stating your name, full postal address and details of your plots [if you were a customer]The Official Receiver as liquidator is seeking further legal advice regarding the land marketed by the company and possible ways forward to deal with the land in the best interests of creditors. In due course, when that advice has been given, the Official Receiver will be writing to all customers of the company.

The Official Receiver appreciates that it is frustrating for customers having to wait for further information, but requests that customers are patient and wait for the Official Receiver’s letter, when he is in a position to give customers a true picture of their position and the legal implications.
